Títol: C*-algebras and the Elliott classification program

Resum: The culmination of the Elliott classification program is one of the cornerstones in the theory of C*-algebras. It is a result by many hands and decades of work, the fruits of which have been proved to be useful in a variety of situations.
Starting with the definition of a C*-algebra, the goal of this talk is to (informally) explain both the classification result and some of the rich history behind it.
